History's 'American Pickers' star Danielle Colby is hunting treasure by day, but by night she moonlights as a risque burlesque dancer. As her alter ego, Colby bumps and grinds on stage wearing bejeweled costumes, ending her titillating dance by stripping down to her pasties and not much else. It was new and taboo. Colby credited burlesque for helping her feel more comfortable in her own skin. It really helped me blossom into a person who is less anxious and less depressed.
However, you might be lucky to not have the experience I did. However, for me, there have been some perks too. She, her family, and her friends all believe that she can't get into the Celestial Kingdom VIP Heaven unless she is "sealed" to a Mormon husband. While I miss talking to him, I also would prefer the nonverbal stuff sometimes too. I got married last year, left a great job, family, friends and city to be with my husband in a very small under developed town. Which even the kind ones are. I also remember my father a stake president telling me the night before I got married that every single couple he had counseled through marriage struggles were not reading their scriptures or praying together every night. You just can't imagine the heap o' hurt you're potentially setting yourself up for. You should not be trying to be exclusive with one person, so go on dates with as many people as you can. Most couples who are married where one is a Mormon and the other isn't, usually stems from a situation where they both were married in the temple, then one of them lost their faith sometime after that.
Do you have a few suggestions for talking points I may want to bring up from stuff directly on LDS. In other words, eternal marriage really is worth it, I think. If I'm focused on something like reading a textbook, or working on some problem then I might still think of him vaguely but I'm not going to whip out my phone or go and see himI'm busy. Since her father is a bishop, I'm sure he'll want to have his daughter marry a temple worthy person. My surgeon husband of 12 years just made himself a "free agent" when he cheated on me and our three kids with a gal 12 years his junior. I feel pretty awful about that whole thing. As an atheist with Buddhist undertones who married a non-practicing, god-believing Mormon at the height of his questioning, I find this so interesting to me.
